The Project
Provide Places for People with guidance and support in relation to fire safety compliance across their portfolio of residential homes and care support sites throughout the UK. Approximately 5,000 sites.
To provide full time in house support to advise on standards, deal with enforcement issues, advise on remedial works and to train the in house team.
This project involved working with the senior management throughout the organisation as well as all of the in house H&S Officers.
Practical Consulting Approach
- Development of applicable fire safety standards and a fire risk assessment template.
- The team involved 2 key consultants from Practical Solutions, one managing and reporting upon the fire risk assessment programme and the other working full time within the facilities team to ensure that the remedial works were correctly specified. Approximately 3,000 sites were assessed by Practical Solutions fire safety consultants
- Throughout the project monthly meetings were held to up date on progress and to advise on key issues and trends.
- To ensure the continuation of control over fire safety issues the in house team of H&S Officers were trained to carry out routine audits.
